Latin America’s conventional energy sector is experiencing a dynamic transformation, as both established producers and emerging players navigate volatile price environments, regulatory shifts, and global energy transition pressures. Experts will discuss how companies are repositioning for growth, improving efficiencies, and managing geopolitical risk in today’s market.

  • Current outlook for new investments in upstream and midstream conventional energy projects (such as natural gas, hydro, and thermal power) in key countries like Brazil, Chile, and Argentina as investor sentiment evolves.
  • Navigating regulatory changes, heightened ESG demands, and geopolitical developments influencing the viability and capital flows into long-term conventional energy projects.
  • Are there particular innovations in capital structuring or risk transfer (e.g., insurance solutions, political risk mitigation) that are unlocking new projects in Latin America?
  • Where do panelists see the best balance of risk and reward for investors and developers in the conventional energy landscape over the next five years? Do you see a clear path for traditional energy companies to navigate the energy transition, or is the outlook still uncertain?

Debt and Capital Markets are flush... if you're bankable. There’s plenty of liquidity, especially for “bankable”/mature deals and strong sponsors. Sophisticated structures, debt funds, project bonds, and local capital are all evolving rapidly, but local banks are more focused on shorter tenors and refinancing mini-perms, while multilaterals and DFIs often de-risk early stage and higher-risk segments. Are private lenders closing the gap?

  • The rise and evolution of private debt: alternative lenders, flexible structures, and market-making for sponsors.
  • How are traditional bank lenders keeping pace in a competitive market?
  • Updates on liquidity, deal terms, and investor appetite in a higher interest rate reality
